Substacks are blogs, but bad. Just use Wordpress. Better yet, let's all go back to hand-crafted HTML at this point.
substacks are just blogs again, right? we just reinvented blogging? I'm not complaining. the internet was better back then anyway

ROTTMNT: The Komodo Sisters
[Tap for better quality ♡]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh, what's this?? An OC rewrite??? If you followed me from my previous blog, you already know Tasmin [the name is Tasmin now] is a familiar TMNT OC of mine, and yall, I missed her and this fandom sm. 😭 I decided my girl needed a re-write and character update, she deserved it. And she's also got a few new friends I'd like to introduce to you all! Featuring my take on a Rise Version of Mona!
[Rambles and character into below♡]
Up until Rottmnt, the Komodo sisters other than Tasmin did not have names, as in the beginning of the TMNT franchise they were just a group of rebellious human juveniles with Tasmin as there leader- but in Rise, the roles are a bit swapped. Instead, Mona is the leader of the group and the oldest, with Madonna and Angel being three Komodo Dragon Yokai and Tasmin, the only human. She was found as a baby on the streets of New York by BG and taken under her care.
They were taught and trained under Big Mama and the hotel staff and are all vigilantes in the works. They are minor Antagonists to the Turtles when they carry out missions for Big Mama around New York or sometimes in the Hidden city when the Turtles run around having shenanigans there.
But Tasmin on the other hand is usually directly at Big Mama's side- since she's a human, Mama wants to keep her sheltered from the upside world as well as the Hidden City to keep her protected from danger. So Tasmin usually has to miss out on all of the fun whilst her sisters are out doing all the cool stuff.
But Tasmin isn't completely rendered useless, while she's also Mama's little tea maid, she's also the tech-wizz of her sisters, and uses wristbands or ear pieces to communicate or track/watch the Komodo sisters and give them information on what their mission is.
🩷
Mona is the oldest of the sisters, even if her stout and shorter appearance compared to her other sisters seems to defy that fact. But don't let her size fool you. This ball of energy can be firey - and she's a total brute who can carry things like 10× her weight. For a brutal vigilante, Mona is a very bubbly and sweet lizard who loves her sisters and is always trying her best to make them all get along. She's willing to stick up and defend her sisters for anything.
💙
Madonna is the next oldest and is on the more contrast side of Mona. She's stubborn, aggressive, and competitive. She likes to take missions seriously and do her best to be praised and respected by Big Mama. Tasmin and Madonna have a slight sibling rift/rivalry between another, mostly because Madonna sees Tasmin as some 'golden child' who is Big Mama's favorite, making her very jealous.
💛
Angel is the happy medium of the sisters. She's very chill, laid back, and mellow. A hippy/surfer is what the youngest of the sisters is usually called [by Madonna, mostly] with her seemingly calm and annoyingly peaceful approach to even the most intense situations. Angel tries to keep all her sisters from getting to each other's throats when things start to get rocky, making her the mediator half of the time.
💚
And finally, Tasmin, the only human of the sisters. Tasmin is the brains of the Komodos, and uses her smarts and wits to keep her sisters on track and focusing on their missions... Even if her attempts are futile. Though she tries her best to hide it under the 'perfect' child image for Big Mama. Her competitive and rebellious spirit battles her smarts and desire obey at times, with Tasmin love for adventure and the idea of going to the upper side of the city with her sisters, sometimes it's a battle between what her heart wants an what her brain wants.
Facts♡
The sisters weapons [if not their sharp teeth, claws, and strength] are blow darts. They use their venomous spit to coat the darts as their weapons. In reality, their saliva is toxic, but in the show it just causes the victim to grow paralyzed and inebriated for a while.
Tasmins weapon of choice is what appears to be a measly staff, but with a little push of a button it transforms into a large hammer/weapon.

Hi!! I wanted to say that I loved reading about your journey of creating a personal website. I'm still unsure between Vercel and Netlify. I have a small question to ask. See, one of the reasons I want to make a website is to archive drawings and journal/sketchbook. Would you have any tips for creating an area on my website just for the diary/journal, which has tags, files for each entry, etc.?
Bello!
Tumblr media
Really happy to hear about your interest in websites! I want everyone to make their own site so I don't have to log into social media and get instant tummyaches ♥
Vercel vs Netlify: I think I settled on Vercel for absolutely no reason whatsoever. I just made a site on Netlify, then tested on Vercel, and now I have like 5 websites on Vercel so I just kept using it LOL. I'm sure a more tech-savvy person would know the difference - I think they have certain integrations with specific programs.
Creating a diary or journal with tags:
There's a couple of different ways you can do that, with different levels of work needed.
you got me yapping again:
This sadgrl tutorial might be outdated and may or may not work, but explains the process better than I can.
Easiest: make a journal on Dreamwidth, or another blogging site (wordpress??) that allows easy tags and RSS feed, and embed that RSS feed onto your site.
This requires almost no HTML set-up, and the easiest to organize tags, but you don't truly have the data on your own site since it's just embedded.
When I snuck into a web design class at college, this was one of the methods that the professor used for a blog within a portfolio site LOL.
Shit like wordpress is what a LOT of ~professional~ sites do for their blog section. They code it separately from the main site haha. It's the most popular thing, but not necessarily the best. And wait til you read on what the CEO of wordpress has been having meltdowns about... he owns tumblr too!
It's made with a tutorial for Neocities if that's what you use.
Medium: Set up zonelets.
It will require some HTML and JS editing, but will help automate making headers/footers for each page of a blog.
I've never used it myself, but I see other people speak highly of it.
HARD FOR ME CUZ I'M A GORILLA: I believe a lot of professional web devs will slap your face with their coding cock until you use a static site generator (SSG) to make your site.
You will need some coding knowledge to set up the tagging system since it doesn't come with it enabled by default. But it's made explicitly to be an alternative to big Static Site Generators which are...
It requires some more intimidating knowledge, because it's a lot of scripts that turn files that are not HTML/CSS/JS into plain HTML.
Also you have to use the command line, and that doesn't come with buttons that tell you what you can do. You have to copy/paste all that shit or memorize the code to 'dev build astro' and it all looks silly.
I've used Eleventy, and now am using Astro. Other people use Hugo or Jekyll or some other stuff with crazy names like Glup Shitto. I hate all these sites cuz none of the words mean anything to me. This is a common theme for me and tech. I don't know what NODES or CONTENT or ISLANDS are!!!
I had the most success attempting to learn how to use a SSG by downloading a template and altering it with github + VScodium. Here's the template page for Astro. You click on a theme you like, and it takes you to its github page. (If you don't want to use evil Microsoft stuff sorry. Skip this entire section.) Follow the instructions on the page for "forking" the glup shitto. When it tells you to run commands, I run those commands through the terminal window in VScodium. These tutorials never tell you what these commands do cuz they assume you already know. Usually those commands automatically install the files you need onto your computer, and create the final files.
You can see my wip here for a "tag system" that SHOULD show members of a web listing haha but I don't know what I'm doing and I have a reading disorder AND don't know cumputer good.
THEORETICALLY this will be the simplest and easiest way to maintain tags and files, because after you set it up you just have to write the "content" of the blog page. And you don't have to set up the header/footer ever again. I see the vision, and potential, but I am not there yet when it takes me 5 hours a day to figure out what any of the words in the documentation mean and I don't want to ask an actual tech person cuz they will be like 'obviously just press the Blip on the Repository and then Suck My Ass in the command line".
(side note I haven't updated fujofans in like a year cuz I'm struggling with this part to make updating easier).
Con: the final HTML/CSS code is really ugly if it's "minified", and a lot of themes use """"""professional"""""" CSS libraries like Bootstrap and Tailwind that I honestly think are ugly cuz that's what every fuckin' tech website uses to style their pages and make them look Professional and Minimalist with stupid code like style="500-w dark-gray-balls D-cup-bra" on every single element. Even Toyhouse uses Bootstrap. Eugh!
But maybe you're smarter than me and can wrangle these things better!
That was really long. Woops. I hope you can slug through this wall of text and find something helpful. Feel free to email me if you have any more specific questions. I may or may not be helpful.
If someone else sees this and has better suggestions for making BLOGS, please chime in. I'm begging you.

one thing I find a little sad is that I don't have a lot of people in the trans girl milieus i inhabit to talk to about tech art, about 3D computer graphics.
the popular discourse on computer graphics is, frankly, kind of miserable. graphics are still often considered either good or bad. and whether they're good or bad is probably defined by numbers: polygons pushed per frame and the like, texture resolution, etc. etc. or hours of polish spent on the game, envisioned as a kind of horrible drudge work, by immiserated artists who never see their families. it is each step taken towards hyper-realism.
in response to this discourse comes an attitude of wanting to throw out the whole thing: "i want smaller games with worse graphics" as the pithy slogan goes. graphics is the sheen of meaningless expensiveness that the triple-A studios throw at you, and thus a fundamentally uninteresting aspect of the medium.
which all sucks. I cannot find myself in either side of this dichotomy.
graphics for me is a space of play. it is its own set of endlessly fascinating challenges: finding ingenious smoke-and-mirrors tricks to create the illusion of objects and space. and it is at the same time, a lens to become more intimately familiar with the real world. light is fascinating. there is so much to see in just a wet road, or a body of water, or a leaf. the fresnel reflections on every object. there is a dialogue here.
and when you look for ways to represent them on a computer, and to stylise them, and abstract them, by wiring together these mathematical tricks... like, at its best, making games is fun in very much the same way that playing them is. your challenge is the profiler, the milliseconds. the space you're exploring is different types of reflection, different things a shader might do, different shapes you can create, different pieces of data you can transform. the mystery to unravel is the inner workings of the graphics card, the splashes of data between buffers and the drumbeat of instructions, the spaces of opportunity where the CPU or GPU is caught waiting.
it's a lot like painting, but the language of painting seems to be less mysterious to people than the language of tech art.
I think even at work, my enthusiasm for this stuff is to my colleagues a foible to be indulged, especially when it makes the game look cool - and I'm lucky to have that, but I want to know other autists who are just as much a freak about it, just like I am very glad to have many people to talk to about music. of course, there are plenty of places to talk about computer graphics on the internet... lots of wonderful little blogs. there's the demoscene and so on, various discord servers. yt channels like sebastian lague and acerola are doing a lot to spread the word of how fun this stuff is. but it's a separate sphere, one disconnected from the rest of life.
I wanna stream graphics/gamedev stuff more, I want to talk more about computer graphics on here. but I don't know how to like, reach across from this strange little island.
perhaps I just try it and see... after all, it's worked for animation, hasn't it?

Oppose a Repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act
Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act has protected free speech online for decades, but now there is a bipartisan effort in Congress to force Section 230 to expire on January 1, 2027. Without this clause, platforms can be held legally responsible for user-generated content. At risk are forums like Discord and Reddit, the user comments sections on news websites and blogs, product reviews on business pages, and social media platforms.
There is also no bipartisan understanding or agreement as to how to protect civil liberties without Section 230. Instead, sponsors of the repeal effort suggest that providing a deadline will pressure Big Tech to come to the table to suggest alternative legislation. But Big Tech—with the biggest pockets to absorb costs of increased litigation—will be the least impacted. It is everyday people engaging in online community spaces who are at risk of being silenced, and the new and small-to-medium sized platforms who are at risk of failure. Congress must take responsibility for protecting free speech online and hold back its attack on the existing legislation that is foundational to the free internet.
Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) are working on a bill to repeal Section 230. Call your Representatives and tell them that any legislation that repeal this internet protection is unacceptable.
Call tools:
I also recommend calling these committee members as well:
*We just need ONE Senator to vote no, because this committee passes rules based on unanimous votes. Here are ones who have spoken out before. Please call ALL of them and express how urgent it is that they vote no during the committee: Cory Booker: (202) 224-3224 Alex Padilla: (202) 224-3553 Sheldon Whitehouse: (202) 224-2921 Chris Coons: (202) 224-5042 Welch: 202-224-4242
And fax them too:

Yo, Welcome to my photography blog!
This is a photography project with a focus on older digital cameras sold before the mid 2000s. I've been working with these sorts of cameras since 2022, which grew from my interest in retro computers that I have had since 2020 or so. Here, I'll introduce you to my cameras, my computer rig, and try to convince you that this is a cool hobby.
General Q & A:
Whats in the name? - Kb refers to Kilobyte, all of the photos I take with these cameras only take up a little over 100 Kilobytes of digital storage per photo. FD refers to the physical media the photos are stored in, currently one camera uses floppy disks (FD), the other two use compact flash (CF) and smart media (SM) cards. unfortunately, their shortened forms do not rhyme and so they do not matter.
What can I expect from this blog? - amateur photography using old cameras, I guess. I'll say some nonsense below each photo but you're free to ignore it. I don't plan on reblogging anything here, so don't expect that. I am the star of this blog. me me me. I tend towards finding weird buildings/architecture, "liminal spaces", sunsets, and generally trying to see how well I can make a photo look like a blender render in a Kane pixels video. don't expect any consistency, though. the medium will remain the same but the vibes will absolutely fluctuate with my mood. I'll try and tag things correctly if it's off putting.
Are you a cool person? - I tend to be! I don't want this place to be alienating for anybody but assholes who don't deserve to see the stuff I do. being a tumblr blog, I follow a lot of the standard stuff. jerks are not welcome and I'm not gonna give you the pleasure of an argument if you do turn your head round these parts.
who are you? - trans pan girl. takes pictures. listens to Femtanyl. much unlike Peter Parker.
My Cameras
Mavica FD-7
Tumblr media Tumblr media
released in 1997, this was the second of Sony's "Digital Mavica" line of cameras. it records photos of around 50Kbs in size to a standard 3 1/2" floppy disk. it has some standard features like a manual focus wheel, 10x optical zoom, and exposure control. I haven't found a strict source but I believe this camera is less than one megapixel. I actually have a few different Mavica cameras (a fd-71/75/83/85/87 and a cd-1000) but they aren't different from the fd-7 enough to justify being used often. I'll make note on individual posts if I use 'em at all.
Kodak DC220
Tumblr media Tumblr media
released in 1999, with a quality of exactly one megapixel the DC 220 is a weird little thing. it has custom software, connects to a computer via com ports with a transfer speed of ~11,000 bit/s. (roughly 30-60 seconds per photo in my experience) you can add custom text to your photos in the cameras built in software, and attach custom audio to each photo. it is a pain in the butt to get working, but it's quirks make it worth the frustration.
Olympus E-10
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
made in 2000 with a quality of a whopping four megapixels, the Olympus E-10 is the newest addition to my collection, and possibly the nicest camera I'll ever own. it's a fixed lens DSLR camera capable of 4x zoom, you can easily adjust the aperture and exposure on the fly, it's photos tend to be a whole 100kb in size (1/10th of a megabyte!) and to be entirely honest I have no idea how to use it. but I will eventually!
My Computer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I try to use all era-appropriate tech to transfer photos and do any edits, this is the computer I do all that processing on! its a Dell Optiplex gx1- the daddy of pretty much any computer used in public schools (Chromebooks don't count) It's got a Pentium 3 CPU clocking at 500MHz, 512mb ram, running windows ME. it has all the original Kodak DC220 software installed, and I can't really access the Kodak's photos any other way. I've also got a few other weird bits attached to it -an HP sketch pro cad tablet and an external data cartridge SCSI device. both work, but I don't really bother to use them, they just look neat.
that's about it. have a good one! thanks for reading this all, if you did.

Alternate prompts can be used to mix and match in any way you'd like with the standard prompts, so go crazy
And last but not least, have fun!
What are the prompts, and what's the deal with alternate prompts?
The two lists of prompts a day are there to give any participants more freedom with whatever they'd like to create. The days are more of a guideline, as mentioned above. I do lean toward the commonly accepted interpretation that Alastor was always averse to having his picture taken, but became close enough to Vox to allow a picture to be taken with him at least once, BUUUUUUUUT alternatively, what if Alastor was more or less fine with his picture being taken until his falling out with Vox (I mean from his perspective, imagine you turn down a friend’s business proposal and he flips the fuck out and then starts keeping video surveillance on you…. With increasingly advanced technology which you already hate….)??
Also, btw love your blog, Vox is a loser!!🩷🩷
I could see that tbh, I mean I'm of the belief that the two's disdain for each other's mediums came out of their falling out with each other. it'd make sense that alastor was fine with it in general in the past, I think he used to be more open to future tech until whatever went down with vox, either disagreement with vox's attitude or disagreement with the superficial development of modern tech. also possible that yeah he did just start scrambling video captures of him precisely because of vox's stalking, honestly that's like very understandable LMAO
alternatively, alastor is actually fine with old-style pictures in general and just hates being captured on modern video.
and thank you!! vox is very much a loser!!!!!
